When using the console to give myself 1 Renown, I received 1 full Renown - but that also let me see tenths of a renown when I did. Not sure if this was fixed in WB, but in M&B the renown value would be recalculated for each round. Renown was calculated based on the strength of your party versus the enemy party, and you could get more renown by lowering the battlesize, since then there would be more of the enemy party left at the end of the round and thus the renown value of the next round would be higher than it would've ^{The game gives more weight to numbers than level, so large numbers of low level bandits will give you more Renown than beating a few elite troops. Basically, by recruiting your 100+ army, you're crippling your renown earnings. Dump them (or put them in garrison) until you get your Renown to 3~4k.
